Panasonic launched its first rugged, enterprise-grade tablet, the Toughpad JT-B1

Panasonic launched its first rugged, enterprise-grade tablet, the Toughpad JT-B1 at the 3rd General Police and Special Equipment Exhibition & Conference Asia (GPEC Asia 2013) in Putrajaya recently. The 7-inch JT-B1 Android™ 4.0-powered Toughpad gives mobile workers all the integrated features and options they require in a tablet that goes anywhere business takes them.

The Toughpad JT-B1 is powered by a dual core 1.5 GHz processor and runs Android 4.0 with software encryption for enterprise-grade security and management. According to Panasonic, the JT-BA has a MIL-STD-810G rating for 150cm drops, as well as an IP65 rated for water and dust resistance.

It features 1GB of memory, and 16GB of internal storage. It also has a 13MP rear-facing camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, and full wireless connectivity via Bluetooth, 3G, and 802.11 a/b/g/n. It is also capable of 8-hours of non-stop computing and the battery is user replaceable, a rarity in tablets.

The JT-B1 is perfect for cloud-based operations, where the bulk of the processing is done at a server level and the tablet mainly acts as a terminal. It is FIPS 140-2 compliant for use in government departments and regulated industries like financial and healthcare institutions.
