Asus has launched the refreshed version of its smartphone-tablet hybrid, the Padfone Infinity at an event in Taipei.
The refreshed Asus Padfone Infinity comes with dimensions 143.5×72.8×8.9mm and weighs 145 grams. It features a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920) Super IPS display. The main update of the device is the 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, along with the addition of a microSD slot plus a secondary microphone for noise cancellation. It includes 2GB of RAM and comes in two inbuilt storage variants – 16GB and 32GB.
The new Padfone Infinity sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity options on the device include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ AGPS, 3G, NFC and LTE. It will be available in two colour variants, Titanium Black and Platinum White.
The new version will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The good news for existing users is that the original PadFone Infinity will also receive this update, but there’s no time frame for the roll-out just yet. It has been priced at $640 for the 16GB variant while the 32GB model comes for $710. The new Padfone Infinity station is priced at $240.
