• Samsung Ativ S Windows Phone 8 priced at RM1699

  Samsung has officially revealed its Samsung Ativ S Windows Phone 8 to the world since August last year. After so many months, the phone is finally officially released in Malaysia and it is set at the price of RM1699.

  

  The device boasts a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 graphics resolution and 306 ppi. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 chipset which features a 1.5GHz dual-core Krait CPU and Adreno 225 GPU as well as 1GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage. It also features an 8-megapixels rear camera, 1.2-megapixels front-facing camera and 2300mAh battery.

• Huawei Ascend W3 Windows Phone 8 Smartphone Leaked

  With Nokia, Samsung and HTC having launched their Windows Phone 8 devices, another brand was expected to showcase its Windows Phone 8 handset from the onset was Huawei.

  

  A recent report suggested that Huawei may have more than one Windows Phone 8 to be released. Leaked images indicated that the company is working on a smartphone called the Ascend W3. This is expected to be a high-end model and seems to be Huawei’s flagship WP8 handset. It is said to be equipped with an 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash.

  In addition, the leaked image also showed that the device features a 4.5-inch display, and measures 132 x 67 x 10mm. It is LTE-capable, as the indicator at the top displays the 4G logo.

  Earlier in October, a press image of the Huawei W1 had leaked online, which showed that the handset shares a fair amount of similarities with other Windows Phone 8 smartphones from Nokia and HTC. As for the specifications, the W1 sports a 4-inch WVGA display, 5-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, and a 2,000mAh battery. Visually, the phone bears a resemblance to HTC’s Windows Phone 8X, while the specifications point to it being closer to the mid-end 8S.

  The full Windows Phone range of Huawei is expected to be unveiled in the new year at either the Consumer Electronics Show or Mobile World Congress, or possibly both.

  Few days after the official launch of Windows 8 operating system, Microsoft Corp. debuted Windows Phone 8, the latest version of the company’s smartphone operating system.

  As part of the announcement, Microsoft revealed new features, including Kid’s Corner and Rooms, along with details and pricing for a range of beautiful new smartphones from Nokia, Samsung and HTC, each with their own differentiated designs, colors and features. Windows Phone 8 devices will go on sale in November in the U.S., as well as at carriers and retailers around the world.

• Windows Phone 8 battle between Nokia and HTC

  The Windows Phone 8 battle is heating up as HTC announced its high-end HTC Windows Phone 8X after two weeks Nokia unveiled the Lumia 920. Both phones presented with striking colors are equipped with high-end specifications. How do they excel themselves in attracting consumers?

  

  Let’s check the comparisons between the two Windows Phone 8!

  Both phones are rather similar in outlook, HTC’s apparent mimicry doesn’t make a strong case for the originality of its flagship Windows phone. However, HTC’s phone is significantly smaller, lighter and thinner than Lumia 920 which could be the preference for those who prefer more pocketable devices.

  The Lumia 920 has a slightly larger display, 4.5 inches as opposed to the Windows Phone 8X’s 4.3 inches, but HTC should look slighly sharper with higher resolution. Nokia promises a very bright mode that will let users read on the beach or in the desert. HTC doesn’t make such claims, but that doesn’t mean its 8X will completely wash out in the sun at the brightest lighting settings.

• HTC and Microsoft announced Windows Phone 8X, 8S

  HTC, along with Microsoft, Wednesday introduced Windows Phone 8X and 8S smartphones and said the devices would be available in November through more than 150 service providers in over 50 countries globally. It will be available on AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile in the U.S.

  

  Microsoft and HTC consider the devices as the “signature” smartphones for the Windows Phone 8 OS, said Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC.

  HTC Windows Phone 8X

  Of the two phones, the 8X is the higher-end of the pair.  The 8X’s polycarbonate unibody wraps around to a curved 4.3-inch Gorilla Glass display. The corners are slightly rounded, so that the device looks rectangular without appearing boxy. The phone comes in myriad vibrant, playful colors. Choices include California blue, graphite black, limelight yellow, and flame red.

  

  The 8X has a 1.5Ghz Qualcomm dual-core processor and allotted 1GB of RAM. The 8X has an eight-megapixel rear camera with backside illuminated sensor (BSI), LED flash, plus HTC’s discrete imaging processor and a 2.1-megapixel, f/2.0 aperture, 88° wide angle front-facing camera, that also supports 1080p video capture.

• HTC and Windows Phone 8

  Posted by Larry Meadows at HTC Blog that, HTC has join Microsoft in celebrating the announcement of Windows Phone 8 and already worked closely with Microsoft to identify the unique ways HTC can deliver the best overall Windows Phone experience.
