
Acer is the latest member of the Worldwide TOP Partner of the Olympic Movement, in the Computing Equipment category, for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Worldwide Olympic Partner Acer will showcase its best products and technologies during the London 2012 Olympic Games as a key contributor to the IT infrastructure that will ensure the smooth operation of the Games.
The equipment, which is now ready to be deployed across the event’s data and media centres, comprises 13,500 desktops; 2,900 notebooks; 950 servers and storage systems; 13,000 computer monitors; and a number of tablet PCs.
These resources will run the entire information system for the event, including Games management, competition scores, reception, information queries and broadcast support. The itinerary for each athlete will also be managed via Acer’s machines. To facilitate the implementation and running of these systems, Acer has mobilised 350 staff members.
Acer has opened a 600sqm interactive showcase in the heart of Vancouver, at LiveCity Yaletown Olympic Site. The Pavilion will invite an expected 600,000 visitors from around the world to share Acer’s vision of the pursuit of excellence in sport and technology.
