Logitech Washable Keyboard K310 – the keyboard that loves a wash
Logitech has released the K310, its first washable keyboard. You may now eliminate the crumb and sticky typing and spill problems on your keyboards.
The washable keyboard can be immersed in up to 30cm of water (12in) and given a good scrub. The limitation is you can only use standard washing up liquid and you should try to keep the USB connector out of the water, too. Once you’ve washed the keyboard, simply leave it to dry. The user guide says it takes eight hours to air dry, and that you shouldn’t use a hair dryer. There are actually drainage holes on the backside of the K310, to help speed things along.
The keyboard is also dust resistant, a brush is attached to the keyboard for easy sweeping off crumbs and dust. Besides, it is able to hold up under heavy use as each key is rated to last up to five million keystrokes.
The Logitech Washable K310 is full-size, with a two-toned black and white color scheme. The individual keys are also laser printed and then UV coated to prevent fading and keep the bright white keys looking new. Silicone dome switches offer waterproof key mechanisms, and a low-profile design with floating keycaps keeps the keyboard slim while providing a comfortable typing experience.
The full keyboard is joined by a numeric pad and F-keys, and 12 hotkeys for controlling volume and media playback, launching Web browser or email, and accessing other applications. The Washable Keyboard K310 is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP, and with plug-and-play functionality, there’s no need to download special software.
The Logitech Washable Keyboard K310 is available to pre-order now through Logitech.com and sells for $39.99.
